Our  Team

Our team is comprised of young, hard working and energetic staff willing to change the care of orthopaedic patients in Machakos County. We have orthopaedic surgeons, an anaesthesiologist and pain specialist, physiotherapist, Theatre Assistant and we currently have a prosthetist on board.

Dr. Levis Nguku

Role: Orthopaedic Surgeon

Special focus:

  • Total Hip replacements

  • Total Knee Replacements

  • Fracture treatment both acute and complex old fractures

  • Childrens Orthopedics


Training and Work Experience:

  • Worked in PCEA Kikuyu Hospital- Rehab, AIC CURE International Hospital-Kijabe

  • Undergraduate training in University of Nairobi

  • Post graduate training in Makerere University, Kampala

  • Others: Arthroplasty training at Yonsei University, S. Korea

  • Fellowship qualification from the College of Surgeons of East Central and Southern Africa

  • Over 10 years experience in orthopaedic surgery

  • Over 5,000 surgeries performed


Dr. Speciosa Nguku

Role: Anaesthesiologist

Interest areas:

  • Chronic Pain Management like Lower back Pain & CRPS​

  • Regional Anaesthesia

  • Childrens anaesthesia

  • Pain-free surgical experience


Training and Work Experience:

  • Undergraduate training at Makerere University, Kamplala

  • Post graduate training in Makerere University, Kampala

  • Others: Regional and paediatric anaesthesia at Yonsei University, S. Korea

  • Fellowship qualification from the College of Anaesthesiologists of East Central and South Africa

  • Over 5 years experience in providing anaesthesia

  • More than 1,000 surgeries performed

Dr. Catherine Wambua

Role: Consultant Physical Therapist

Interest areas:

  • Management of Stroke & Brain Injury Patients to restore function

  • Sport Medicine Rehabilitation 

  • Cardiac Rehabilitation

  • Wound Care Management.

Training and Work Experience:

  • Masters in Exercise Physiology from University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA.

  • PHD in Physiotherapy from Univeristy of South Alabama USA

  • Member of American Physical Therapy association, Alabama Board ofphysical therapy and Physiotherapy council of Kenya

  • Physiotherapist, CEO & Proprietor of Restore Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Hospital at Karen, Nairobi.

  • Over 26 years of  experience in USA

  • 12 years as Clinical faculty for the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Physical Therapy, Alabama State University

  • Part-time Faculty in Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

Role: Physiotherapist

Interest areas:

  • She has a passion for managing several conditions including: orthopaedic rehabilitation , paediatrics , neuro rehabilitation, geriatrics( elderly medicine)  and special interest in oncology 

Training and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science physical therapy -JKUAT

  • Worked in Nairobi Rehabilitative Services, AIC Kijabe Hospital
    Active participant of community Rehabilitative Services through Physio Mtaani Initiative for children with  cerebral palsy and delayed milestones. 
    Consults with Rare Diseases Kenya in matters physical therapy

Ms Veronica Kirigo
Mr. Alexander Kibet Kering

Role: Prosthetist – Orthopedic technologist

Interest areas:

  • Homebased Prosthesis services. He has a passion to come and treat his patients from the comfort of their home. Instead of a patient with an amputation coming to the hospital, he brings the services to you.

  • He has an interest in : Peadiatric Prosthesis and Orthoses for Amputations, Cerebral Palsy, Club feet e.t.c

  • Post surgery rehabilitation Orthoses

  • Adults Prosthesis: Amputations due to Diabetes

Training and Work Experience:

  • Worked in AIC CURE International Childrens Hospital in Kijabe and Nairobi at  Worldwide Orthopaedics Center.

  • He conducts outreach clinics in several towns which include: Kitui, Voi, Isiolo, Meru and Eldoret & Machakos 

  • Over 15 years experience

  • Diploma Orthopaedic Technology- KMTC Nairobi Campus



Mr. Joseph Maina

Role: Theatre Assistant

Interest areas:

  • Wound Care management- Vacuum Therapy

  • Assisting In Surgical & Anaesthesia Procedures

Training and Work Experience:

  • Worked in Oasis Specialist Hospital as a Theatre Assistant.

  • Worked for over 6 years in Kijabe Hospital as a theatre assistant

  • Certified Theatre Technologist at Kijabe Hospital School of Nursing

Mrs. Elizabeth Kimilu

Role: Clinic Manager- Machakos 

Passion is:

  • Interacting with people

  • Checking on patients

  • Staff welfare


Training and Work Experience:

  • Over 15 years experience in managing clinics in Eldoret, Nairobi and Wote towns.

Ms. Joy Benson Lubanga

Role: Clinician -Orthopaedics  

Passion is:

  • Conservative Management of fractures.

  • Management of acute injuries

  • Assisting in surgeries.

Training and Work Experience:

  • Higher national diploma in orthopedics

  • Diploma in clinical medicine.

  • Member of emergency medicine kenya foundation

  • Over 4 years of experience .

Role: Physiotherapist

Passion is:

  • She has a passion in rehabilitation /management of physical therapy conditions using manual therapy.

Training and Work Experience:

  • Has a diploma in physiotherapy from KMTC Nairobi Campus. 

  • More than 1 year work experience. 

  • Has worked at Matuu level 4 hospital as a volunteer physiotherapist and Mercy servants of the poor Kithyoko.
